Wartburg Players to present 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Waverly, IA (03/28/2024) — Wartburg Players will put on a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on April 5 and 6, at 7:30 p.m. in McCaskey Lyceum in the Saemann Student Center.

The production is free to Wartburg students who present a student ID. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10.

Wartburg Players is a student-run drama organization. Abigail O'Dell and Ian Wetzler are the student co-directors for this production. Within the play, there is a short madrigal composed by Liam Candib, a second year music education major.

"The best part of this production truly is how transformative it is. Every actor, costume, light, prop and flower has been carefully crafted to make an immersive and chaotic forest experiment," said O'Dell. "You will feel like you're in the forest experiencing the fairy and mortal realm collide with each of the characters."

Custom costumes were created by O'Dell, Ben Edwards and Kylea Neundorf. Elijah McDonald helped build the set.

"Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is a comical take on all the troubles that come with love, and there can be many complications," said Wetzler. "This classic will bring you on a journey to a whimsical forest, where star-crossed lovers take on a more literal meaning. So, join us, and after your trip you may only recall it as the fierce vexations of a dream!"
