Wartburg to host concert organist Spritzer

Waverly, IA (09/16/2024) — Wartburg College will host guest organist Damin Spritzer at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, in the Wartburg Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

Spritzer is an associate professor of organ at the University of Oklahoma and the artist-in-residence for Cathedral Arts at the Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew in Dallas. She has performed in Brazil, Norway, France, England, Iceland and in other locations around the world and throughout the U.S.

"She maintains a busy concert schedule in addition to her teaching, and we are fortunate to be able to host her at Wartburg College. I am excited to hear her wide-ranging program of organ music on the Wartburg Chapel Dobson organ," said Karen Black, Rudi Inselmann Endowed Professor in Organ. "This is a great opportunity for students and the wider community to hear music not likely heard elsewhere and hear it performed by such an accomplished artist!"

Spritzer is devoted to researching and performing lesser-known and underrepresented composers as well as music by female composers. She released her seventh CD, "Organ Music of Pierre Kunc," in 2023.

"Spritzer is a superb player [who] has a talent for bringing unknown or neglected repertory to life," said Robert Delcamp, independent critic for American Record Guide.

More information on Spritzer can be found on her website at www.daminspritzer.com.
