Tyler French wins Iowa College Media Association award

Tyler French of Cumming was one of 32 Wartburg College students or recent graduates to win an award at the annual Iowa College Media Association conference Feb. 2-3 in Des Moines.

French earned first place in Best Sports Broadcast for the Wartburg men's basketball game versus Central. He earned a second place in the same category for the Wartburg men's basketball game versus Luther.

Wartburg student media took home a total of 18 awards, with Cedar Valley Today and Knight Vision earning 10 nods, the Trumpet taking three and KWAR earning five. The Wartburg College Knight Vision staff won first place for "Wartburg volleyball versus Loras" and third place for "Wartburg women's basketball versus Luther" in the Best Sportscasting category. Cedar Valley Today earned first place for Best News Programming for its Dec. 10, 2015, Christmas on Main show and honorable mention in Best Newscast for its Nov. 11, 2015, broadcast. The Trumpet staff earned an honorable mention in the Best Page 1 category.

Student media advisers are Chris Wilson (Cedar Valley Today), KatieJo Kuhens (Knight Vision), Pam Ohrt (KWAR) and Cliff Brockman (Trumpet).

ICMA is made up of 12 Iowa colleges. The annual conference is held in conjunction with the Iowa Newspaper Association's conference.
