Jessica Donahue places at regional speech, debate tournament

The Wartburg College Forensics speech and debate team recently placed second in the small entry team sweepstakes division at the annual Vocal Viking Speech and Debart Tournament hosted by Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minn.

Jessica Donahue, a senior from Waukee majoring in communication arts and writing, was part of the three-person team competing against teams from 15 other schools.

"This is an impressive outcome with only seven entries," said David Brennan, assistant director of forensics. "Each teammate contributed to our finish."

Donahue earned second place in Poetry Interpretation and Persuasive Speaking and earned 10th place overall as an individual speaker.

Andrew Tubbs earned first place in After-Dinner Speaking.

The Knights travel to Peoria, Ill., Nov. 6, for the L.E. Norton Memorial Tournament at Bradley University.
